Dr. Sandra Richtermeyer
Dean of the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell
Sandra Richtermeyer, Ph.D., CMA, CPA (inactive), is Dean and Professor of Accounting at the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Her research and teaching interests are corporate governance, internal control, risk management, accounting information systems, financial and managerial accounting. She has served as a director on many boards and regularly consults with boards and helps them improve their overall performance. She is currently a global board member for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and served as global board chair in 2010-2011. She is past chair of the Ohio Society of CPAs board, a current board member for the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. In addition, she has held many leadership roles with the American Accounting Association and numerous other professional associations and nonprofit organizations. She has received many teaching awards, including the American Women’s Society of CPAs Educator of the Year, Ohio Accounting Educator of the Year. She served as a member of the COSO board from 2011-2018 and currently serves on the United Nations Internal Control Advisory Committee. Before her academic career, she was a CPA in Denver, Colorado for several years, focusing on systems implementation and management advisory services. Over the past decade, she has delivered presentations on six continents on governance, leadership, and accounting technical topics. She received her B.S. from the University of Wyoming and her M.S., MBA, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Colorado.
